New York City’s Office of Emergency Management, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission will be working with mobile providers to perform the first complete test of cellular communications technology on Thursday, December 15, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., by sending test notices to all mobile device users.

Please note that this is new technology, and that this test is not related to Fordham University’s emergency notifications systems. The University has no control over these tests, and is publicizing them in advance merely as a courtesy to members of the Fordham community.

These notifications are only TESTS, but may take users by surprise. These tests are for New York City residents, but users in Westchester and Nassau Counties and New Jersey may also receive notices. Any questions regarding the tests should be directed to your mobile carrier’s customer service number.

Thank you,
