New York City has developed strike plans as follows:

High Occupancy Vehicle ( HOV) lanes restricting traffic south of 96th Street Monday through Friday between 5a.m. and 11a.m. require vehicles to have at least four passengers. This will include all streets and both the FDR south of Dyckman Street and the Henry Hudson Parkway south of Mosholu Parkway. Central Park roadways will be open 24 hours a day, but four or more persons must be in the vehicle during the aforementioned hours to enter the park. Traffic flow on bridges and tunnels into Manhattan will be eased by lane reversals. No commercial vehicles will be permitted south of 96th Street during aforementioned hours. Vehicles heading into Manhattan through East River crossings, and the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels also must have a minimum of four people between 5 a.m. and 11a.m.

The City encourages use of car pools, taxis, livery, commuter vans, commuter buses and trains (Metro North, LIRR, Path, NJ Transit, Amtrak, Westchester County Bee-Line Buses, Staten Island Ferry, private ferries). Parking lots at Staten Island Ferry terminals will be restricted to passenger vehicles with four or more occupants. Alternate side of the street parking will be suspended Citywide. Taxi and For Hire vehicles will follow amended rules to take multiple passengers. Park and Ride / Carpool staging areas will be put into place. For more information about New York City’s MTA Bus & Subway Strike Contingency Plan, access the New York City Alternative Transportation Information Center.

Faculty, staff and students who currently hold RH decals for parking are encouraged to join together with their colleagues and drive others to Fordham who rely on public transportation, specifically NYC buses and trains during this potential strike. Daytime only parking will be provided at Rose Hill for faculty, staff and students who ordinarily use public transportation; however, they are strongly encouraged to car pool. Ram Vans to Lincoln Center from Rose Hill should expect  increased ridership as both Rose Hill and Lincoln Center faculty, staff and students will opt for parking at Rose Hill in many cases.  Please be prepared to show security personnel your current Rose Hill parking decal or your Fordham University identification card.

Student Affairs plans to schedule a limited Ram Van shuttle service to make stops at Penn Station, Port Authority’s 42nd Street terminal and our Lincoln Center Campus. the schedule is posted on the University’s homepage at www.fordham.edu.
