Derek Lief, Ph.D., GABELLI SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, assistant professor of strategy and statistics, won the Best Idea Prize for the paper, “From Data to Dialogue: Artificial Intelligence and the Formation of Provider-Client Relationships” at the Conference on Field Experiments in Strategy (CFXS) in San Francisco this month. (Amisha Miller, Ph.D., assistant professor of management and organizations at New York University Stern School of Business, tied for the award.) He is co-authoring the paper with Carlos Inoue, Ph.D., assistant professor at Gies College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Mijeong Kwon, Ph.D., assistant professor of management in organizational behavior at Rice Business.
Matthew Lopez-Jensen, ARTS AND SCIENCES, adjunct professor of visual arts, published The Work and the Water in September, featuring his photographs of the Erie Canal. The book documented his work as the canal’s first artist-in-residence and commemorates its bicentennial.
Vanessa Rotondo, Ph.D., OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT, deputy chief of staff, was invited to deliver a public lecture, “Synodality: Where Do We Go From Here?” on Oct. 26 at St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco.
