Samantha Iyer, PhD, ARTS AND SCIENCES, associate professor of history, recently authored a new book, Agrarian Superpower: Food, Development, and the Global Ascendancy of the United States. Published by Columbia University Press this spring, the book examines the global world order following World War II and how the U.S. rose within it through its food and agriculture.
Vanessa Rotondo, PhD, MISSION INTEGRATION AND MINISTRY, mission strategy officer, delivered a lecture on St. Ignatius Loyola titled “The Journey Home: An Ignatian Odyssey of Encounter, Joy, and Hope” at Fairfield University on Sept. 19. The lecture explored the story of St. Ignatius Loyola through the lens of The Odyssey. Drawing parallels between the two, Rotondo reflected on how journeys of uncertainty, encounter, and transformation can help us wrestle with enduring questions of identity, belonging, and purpose.
Joshua Schrier, PhD, ARTS AND SCIENCES, Kim B. and Stephen E. Bepler Professor of Chemistry, together with postdoctoral fellow Hao Liu, PhD, and collaborators from Central Connecticut State University, published a paper titled “Environmental Stability of Alkyl Phosphate- and Sulfate-Containing Membranes as Early Cell Models” in ACS Earth and Space Chemistry on Sept. 24.
