Fordham’s Poets Out Loud (POL) will hold their last reading of the year on Monday, April 20 at 7 p.m., featuring the 2014 National Book Critics Circle Award (Poetry) finalist Willie Perdomo, poet Jordan Windholz, and high school students who have attended workshops this year as part of the POL outreach program.

The reading is free and open to the public.
Perdomo
(featured above in a video) is a prize-winning Nuyorican poet and children’s book author whose latest book is The Essential Hits of Shorty Bon Bon (Penguin, 2014). He is also the author of Where a Nickel Costs a Dime and Smoking Lovely, which received a PEN Open Book Award.
Windholz, a doctoral student in English literature at Fordham, recently published his first book of poetry, Other Psalms (University of North Texas Press, 2015), which, according to its publisher, “recasts devotional poetics and traces the line between faith and its loss.”
The student-readers have been chosen among the participants in the POL outreach program, which collaborates with underserved high school communities that might not otherwise come into contact with poetry at such an intensive level. POL’s diverse programming exposes the students to poets from all walks of life.
