November in New York City brings crisp air, vibrant fall colors, and many ways to enjoy the city. From cheering on marathoners to celebrating Thanksgiving in style, here are five things worth adding to your calendar this month.

1. Root for the Runners at the NYC Marathon

There’s always magic in the air during the New York City Marathon, and you can soak it up from the sidelines on Nov. 2. Last year, the 26.2-mile race through all five boroughs set a world record as the biggest marathon ever, with more than 55,000 runners making it to the finish line.

2. First Friday at the Bronx Museum

Stop by the Bronx Museum on the first Friday of the month to enjoy after-hours art, music, and dancing. While you’re there, check out the “Ministry: Reverend Joyce McDonald” exhibition, featuring biographical archive materials and works of art from the ordained minister and modern sculptor.

4. Catch a Concert from Barge Music

If classical music with a gorgeous backdrop is more your speed, don’t miss Barge Music’s free weekend concerts all month long. The chamber music series recently moved its concerts into the Boathouse in Brooklyn Bridge Park, where you can listen to world-class performances while enjoying a view of the lower Manhattan skyline.

5. Celebrate Thanksgiving at the Macy’s Parade

It’s almost turkey time, which means the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is just around the corner. Line up early on Thanksgiving Day to catch a glimpse of the iconic floats as they make their way toward Herald Square. Or keep it cozy and tune in from home.
