34th Annual Symposium for Field Educators
Friday, February 15, 2019, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This workshop is designed to help field instructors prepare interns to work with immigrants from diverse
backgrounds. Participants will learn how to help students use a social work lens to understand the micro-, mezzo-, and macro-level factors impacting various immigrant groups. This workshop will present the historical context of the social work profession’s role in working with immigrant populations, introduce theoretical approaches to working with clients, including trauma-informed practice and resiliency, and address the importance of advocacy efforts with these populations.
