A Panel on Intergenerational Relations Among African Immigrants in the Bronx
Saturday, November 10, 2018, 3 – 7 p.m.
This panel explores the intersection between parents’ expectations of their children on one hand, and what children aspire to do and become on the other. In other words, the panel seeks to understand the intergenerational relationships among African immigrants in the Bronx, and proposes pathways for harmonizing the different expectations. The event will involve presentations by six invited participants: three (3) parents/adults and three (3) young adults representing the different African immigrant communities in the Bronx, followed by a Q&A session with the audience (students, faculty, and other community members).
