Civil Disobedience in Comics
Sunday, November 20, 2016, 12 – 9 p.m.
We are getting together students, academics, ARTISTS, organizers, writers, historians, graphic designers, and immigration lawyers (and anyone who wants to help!) to put together a graphic guidebook/primer on how to understand the history of civil disobedience in the United States, ways to protect our communities, etc.
Inspired by Martin Luther King Junior’s own work on a comic book from the1950s for the civil rights movement called Martin Luther King and the Montgomery Story, we will work together to produce teaching/learning materials that are clear and visual, intending to reach new audiences.
The room is confirmed for Sunday (Nov. 20) from 12 noon to 9:00 PM. If you are not affiliated with Fordham, on the day of you should just tell the people at the entrance of Lowenstein you are going to the Comic Book Making session in 419. Please invite friends and bring any supplies you can! (art supplies, paper, your laptop).
