Commuter Appreciation Reception
Friday, May 4, 2018, 2 – 4:30 p.m.
Join us for the Commuting Students Association’s annual Commuter Appreciation Reception (CAR). The event will feature a luncheon, speeches by representatives of the Commuting Students Association and the Commuter Student Services staff, and an awards ceremony. This year our keynote speaker is Chief Diversity Officer Rafael Zapata, who will share his perspective on the challenges commuters face, a perspective drawn from his work on college campuses as well as his time as a student commuter. Father Lito will also join us to give the blessing.
Traditionally, CAR served to recognize the efforts of CSA members, with a special emphasis on Executive Board and graduating seniors. This year and moving forward, the ceremony is open to commuter leaders all around campus, who will be honored through the Exemplary Commuter Awards. These awards recognize the hard work of commuter leaders who continuously exhibit the ability to lead, empower, and inspire fellow students within and outside of CSA. You can nominate commuters you know for these awards! Commuters can be nominated for their leadership positions in clubs, academics, athletics, or other creative outlets.
This event is supported by the Office for Student Involvement, the Office for Multicultural Affairs, and Campus Ministry.
