Fordham IPED U.N. Side Event: World Day of the Poor
Friday, November 17, 2023, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Fordham University’s Graduate Program in International Political Economy and Development (Fordham IPED), alongside Catholic Relief Services and CARITAS Internationalis, is hosting a UN Side Event titled World Day of the Poor Forum.
To commemorate the World Day of the Poor, Monsignor Robert Murphy, deputy permanent observer of the Holy See to the UN, will be providing the opening remarks. Julie Ideh, global technical director of agriculture and livelihoods of Catholic Relief Services, will give the keynote address on the global food crisis.
IPED’s professor Henry Schwalbenberg, Babalwa Nogwanya, and Harrison Yu-Zepeda will present the 2023 Fordham Francis Index Report, a multidimensional poverty index that monitors recent global trends in food, water, housing, employment, education, gender, and religious freedom.
