Reckoning and Reform: New Horizons on the Clergy Abuse Crisis
Tuesday, March 26, 2019, 4 – 7:30 p.m.
The 2019 Russo Family Lecture
This symposium, coming one month after a landmark Vatican summit on the clergy abuse scandal, will feature an organizer of that summit and a leader in Rome’s anti-abuse efforts, Hans Zollner, S.J.
Father Zollner’s lecture on the Catholic Church’s reform efforts, and the global context of the sexual abuse crisis, will follow a presentation from Margaret Smith and Karen Terry of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, authors of the two original reports on the scope of the crisis and its causes.
These two presentations, part of Fordham University’s ongoing commitment to address the scourge of abuse in the church, will provide new insights into how the scandal developed and how it is being addressed—and what remains to be done.
