SUMMARY:Alumni Chapter of Houston: 2026 MFAH Picasso-Klee-Matisse Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join the Alumni Chapter of Houston on a private tour of Heinz Berggruen’s collection of lesser-known pieces by Picasso\, Klee\, Matisse\, and others in the U.S. debut of this important German collection. \nTicket costs $28 each and will be distributed at the museum. \nAbout the tour: \nHighlighting the careers of Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee\, as well as Henri Matisse’s signature cut-outs\, Alberto Giacometti’s haunting sculptures\, and the works of Georges Braque and Paul Cezanne\, this exhibition explores the relationship of famed gallerist and collector Heinz Berggruen with the artistic community of postwar Paris and beyond. Assembled thematically\, the collection reflects an intimate\, personal approach to the European avant-garde that shines new light on titans of the 20th-century art world. \nBetween the 1940s and the 1990s\, Berggruen amassed hundreds of modern masterworks\, many of them directly from the artists. As a dealer\, he became his own best client\, forming a singular collection guided by his tastes and affinities. Picasso–Klee–Matisse: Masterpieces from the Museum Berggruen presents more than 95 of the works—paintings\, watercolors\, drawings\, and sculptures—on loan from the Museum Berggruen in Berlin. The exhibition combines rich focal areas\, including still life\, portraits\, the human figure\, and landscapes\, with in-depth presentations devoted to individual artists. \nSpace is limited and we encourage you to register early. RSVP by July 24. \nPlease consider making a gift of $25 or more to support an area of your choice at Fordham. If you cannot attend\, you can make your gift online.

SUMMARY:Essential Insights: Discursive Leadership
DESCRIPTION:Essential Insights is a virtual learning series offered through the Assistant Provost for Corporate Relations and the Office of Alumni Relations\, created for professionals navigating a rapidly evolving world of work. \n“Discursive Leadership” is the notion that leadership is not a personal trait or position\, but an ongoing practice enacted through communication. Leadership emerges in everyday interactions—how we frame issues\, listen\, respond\, and make meaning with others—especially in moments of uncertainty\, tension\, and change. This session develops leadership capacity across three integrated dimensions: knowing\, doing\, and being. \nThe knowing dimension focuses on conceptual frameworks that explain how communication shapes leaders’ influence and coordination. Doing emphasizes practical skills for navigating conversations\, framing complexity\, and acting effectively. Being centers on embodied enactment\, including presence\, emotional regulation\, and self-awareness. \nTogether\, these dimensions help participants learn to lead more intentionally through how they communicate and manage themselves in real-world contexts. By shifting focus from who a leader is to what a leader does\, participants gain a more accessible and actionable understanding of leadership.
