Fordham President Tania Tetlow said climate change affects the most vulnerable among us, and yet those communities are the least likely to be part of harnessing the economic opportunity of the shift in the economy towards green jobs. Watch the full panel discussion.
“It comes from our Catholic identity. The last three popes made clear that our greatest priority should be protecting the earth, our home, and really thinking about the ways that climate change and environmental degradation affect the poorest among us most of all. So we are committed to modeling that ourselves and having a real impact in our community.”
“The irony is that climate change affects the most vulnerable among us the worst, and those are the people least likely to be part of harnessing the economic opportunity of the shift in the economy towards green jobs.
“We are trying to connect the dots of having training programs in how to do the jobs that come from the green economy and to connect them very directly to employers so that a student can come learn the skills they need and get that job right away—to make that path as short and direct as possible.”
