What do you do at Fordham?
I’m the fire and life safety director at Martino Hall on the Lincoln Center campus. I’ve been here for 10 years, since Martino Hall opened. It’s my job to protect everyone and handle emergencies in this building.
Tell me a little about your background:
I grew up in New York City. I moved all around, so I’ve lived in Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx. I went to high school at DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx.
What’s a fun fact about you that most colleagues don’t know?
As old as I am, I have a young heart. I am very active. I still do paintballing, biking, fishing, baseball, and softball. I’m always doing something.
I’ve been fishing since I was a kid, with the same group of friends for over 40 years. Together, we’ve traveled up and down the East Coast—from Long Island and Boston to Florida and even Mexico—fishing off boats, charters, and more recently, my own fishing kayak.
I launch locally from Orchard Beach or City Island, and I’ve passed the passion down to my granddaughter.
What work are you most proud of doing in your time here?
Knowing that I help keep everyone safe. Whether it’s checking that the stairwells and elevators are clear or making sure only the right people are in the building … I take pride in creating a secure and welcoming environment every day. And anyone who has a problem, I always have an ear.
In a few words, what do you think makes Fordham special?
It’s the people—the staff, the faculty, and the students. Their energy, motivation, and positivity make this place special and make me happy every day.
What is the last best thing you watched?
My granddaughter Serenity Rose’s softball game—she’s 12 and plays second base and right field. It makes me so proud to watch her play. I watch her softball games every weekend.
