WHO SHE IS
Director, Quinn Library
TIME AT FORDHAM
33 years
WHAT SHE DOES
Linda is responsible for all of the operations and services at Quinn Library; and for managing and augmenting its nearly 500,000 volumes, which represent about 25 percent of the total volumes at all Fordham libraries.
BACKGROUND
After graduation from Fordham’s Thomas More College in 1972, she began her career at the Frick Art Reference Library, where she worked for three years while studying at Pratt Institute for her first of two master’s degrees. When she joined the Fordham staff in 1975, her first job on campus was cataloging books and other holdings at the library annex in the basement of Keating Hall.
HOOFING IT
“When I first came to Fordham, in addition to Duane and the basement of Keating, there were separate libraries for physics, chemistry and biology. If you needed books on different subjects, you hoped it wasn’t a rainy day.”
ONWARD AND UPWARD
“Since I moved to Quinn in 1991, everything at Fordham has changed, not only at the library but across the University. The trajectory that we’re on is amazing—from the faculty and research to the academic excellence of the students.
TECHNOLOGY
“Libraries are extremely adaptable to technology. We remain true to our mission to acquire, organize and disseminate information, but we do that in every new form and means of transmission that comes out.”
FAVORITE BOOKS?
“I love mystery novels, but I’ll read just about anything that catches my interest. I have stacks of books at home. It’s an occupational hazard, I suppose.”
