Fordham Law School held the opening ceremony for the Feerick Center for Social Justice and Dispute Resolution on Sept. 19. The center is headed by former Fordham Law School dean John D. Feerick, J.D., Leonard F. Manning Professor of Law and Sidney C. Norris Chair of Law in Public Service.

Operating like a think tank and mediation center, the center will frame concrete solutions to problems plaguing the urban poor, such as homelessness and limited access to legal services. Among the notables on hand to celebrate the center’s opening was Judith Kaye, chief judge of the State of New York, who praised Feerick’s record of public service; Linda Gibbs, New York City’s deputy mayor for health and human services; Christine Quinn, speaker of the New York City Council; and Geraldine Ferraro (LAW ’60), former United States vice presidential candidate.
