Jeffrey E. Cohen, Ph. D., A&S,
professor of political science, has won the Founders Award from the Presidency Research Group of the American Political Science Association for the best paper on the presidency presented at the 2007 American Political Science Association annual meeting. He co-wrote the article, “Change and Stability in the President’s Legislative Policy Agenda, 1789-2002,” with Matthew Eshbaugh-Soha (University of North Texas).

Elaine P. Congress, D.S.W., GSS,
professor and associate dean of the Graduate School of Social Service, and Patricia Brownell, Ph.D., associate professor of social work, have published a chapter on “The Use of the Culturagram in Understanding Immigrant Women Affected by Domestic Violence,” in Battered Women and Their Families: Intervention Strategies and Treatment Programs (Springer Publishing Company, 2007).

Marlene Cooper, Ph.D., GSS,
associate professor of social work, has published “Integrating Simple Subject Design Research into the Clinical Practice Class,” and “Integrating Theory and Practice” in the Journal of Teaching and Social Work.

assistant professor of early childhood education, presented a paper on “Social Protection for Children and Their Families: A Global Overview,” at the STOP AIDS NOW! International Expert Meeting on Social Protection for Children in Utrecht, Holland.

Kathleen P. King, Ed.D., GSE,
professor of education and director of Fordham’s RETC: Center for Professional Development and Mark Gura, the RETC’s coordinator of outreach programs, have received a $3,000 grant from McGraw Hill Publishing to research educational and professional development podcasting. The research funding from McGraw Hill’s Philanthropic Programs will support a study of the most current participant perspectives, uses and needs in professional development through podcasting.

John P. McCarthy, Ph.D., A&S,
professor emeritus of history, has published Ireland: A Reference Guide From the Renaissance to the Present (Facts on File, 2006).

Francis Petit, Ed.D., GBA,
assistant dean and director of executive programs, took part in the Executive MBA Round Table as part of the World MBA Tour on Feb. 24 in New York City. Petite was also featured in an Q&A in a supplement in the Top ExecEd Guide distributed at the World MBA Tour.

Dominick Salvatore, Ph.D., A&S,
distinguished professor of economics, has been appointed president of the North American Economics and Finance Association and has published “The U.S. Challenge of European Firms: Globalization, Architecture, Admiration, and Perceived Innovativeness,” in the European Journal of International Management. In addition, the ninth edition of his International Economics (Wiley, 2007) was published in January.

Assistant professor of economics, has co-written “Social Network Structure, Segregation, and Equality in a Labor Market with Referral Hiring,” with Filippo Menczer (Indiana University) in the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization.

Hrishikesh (Rick) Vinod, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of economics and director of the Institute for Ethics and Economic Policy, has published “Maximum entropy ensembles for time series inference in economics” in the Journal of Asian Economics and has co-written “Does rapid transition to insulin therapy in subjects with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus benefit glycemic control and diabetes-related complications? A German population-based study,” in Experimental and Clinical Endocrinology and Diabetes.
