Gloria Durka, Ph.D., GRE,
professor and director of the Ph.D. program in Religious Education, presided over the meeting of the International Seminar on Religious Education and Values (ISREV), “Respecting History and Remembrance in Religious Education Research,” which was held in Turku, Finland, from July 29-August 3. At the final session of the meeting, she was re-elected president of ISREV.

associate professor of social work, received a grant from the Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange to study “Social Policy, Poverty, and Income Inequality in China: From 2002 to 2007.” He also gave a presentation titled “How Does Hidden Income Affect Income Distribution? Evidence from Guangzhou, China” at the 32nd General Conference of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW) in August in Boston.

research associate, Laurence J. McGinley Chair in Religion and Society, and associate professor of theology, presented a paper, “Avery Dulles and Vatican II,” at the Vatican II Conference at Walsh University in Canton, Ohio. She has also been appointed to the Board of Trustees of Molloy College.

assistant professor of mathematics education, and Robert Graham, Ed.D., GSE, clinical associate professor of education, won a grant of $1,168,217 for their project, “Fordham University NSF Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program,” from the National Science Foundation.

associate professor of economics, participated in a panel discussion on “Gender Inequality: Empowering Women with Disabilities in Employment” at the United Nations in conjunction with the Fifth Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on Sept. 13.
Philip M. Napoli, Ph.D., BUS,
professor of communication and media management and director of the Donald McGannon Communication Research Center, published an article, “Retransmission Consent and Broadcaster Commitment to Localism” in CommLaw Conspectus. In September, he delivered an invited presentation on social TV analytics to the American Association of Advertising Agencies and a presentation on “Program Value in the Evolving Television Audience Marketplace” to the Council on Research Excellence. Napoli also was an invited participant in an FCC research design meeting for a multi-market study of critical information needs.

McGinley Professor of Religion and Society, delivered a keynote lecture, “Environmental Factors in Religious Change: Perspectives from the Sahel and Savannah of West Africa,” at the Religion and Environment Conference at the University of Pretoria, South Africa on Aug. 15. He also delivered a lecture, “The Call to Worship: A Trialogical Meditation on Islam,” at St. Augustine’s University College in Johannesburg, South Africa on Aug. 8. Father Ryan celebrated the annual Red Mass for the Lawyers and Judges of Yonkers in Yonkers on Oct. 1.
