With multiple Ignatian retreats and volunteer projects on the calendar—plus festivals at Lincoln Center and art at New York Botanical Garden—you can deepen your connections to the Fordham mission, your colleagues, and the surrounding community. 

1. Monday, June 16, 12 – 1 p.m.:
Learn and Lunch: Intro to St. Ignatius and Jesuit Education at Lincoln Center

Discover the foundational themes of St. Ignatius Loyola’s life and work and Fordham’s Jesuit mission over a free sandwich lunch for all participants. A Rose Hill session will be offered July 1. Lowenstein 206 (Welcome Center), Lincoln Center

2. Wednesday, June 18, 4 – 5 p.m.:
School Supply Packing Service Project

Turn care into action by assembling school supply packages and writing notes of affirmation for neighborhood children in NYC. Lowenstein, Room 307, Lincoln Center 

3. Tuesday, June 24, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.:
Public Speaking Workshop for Staff and Faculty at Rose Hill 

Sharpen your public speaking skills in this interactive workshop designed to help you communicate more assertively and comfortably in any setting. A Lincoln Center session will be offered July 31. Keating 3rd Auditorium, Rose Hill 

4. Thursday, June 26, 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.:
Mission-in-Action Sandwich Making Service Project

Fight food insecurity with your Fordham community. You’ll prepare PB&J meal packs for neighborhood community fridges and conclude with an Ignatian reflection.

5. Wednesday, July 9, 1 – 3 p.m.:
NYCHA Harborview Community Garden Cleanup

Get outside for a service opportunity and strengthen our local community bonds as you spruce up the NYCHA Harborview Community Garden. Meet at Lowenstein Lobby, Lincoln Center 

6. Tuesday, July 15, 12 – 1 p.m.:
One-Hour Lunch Retreat on Lincoln Center Plaza

Nourish your soul on Fordham’s art-filled Plaza during this midday retreat open to all. Lunch sandwiches provided. Lowenstein Plaza, Lincoln Center

7. Thursday, July 17, 12 – 1 p.m.:
One-Hour Lunch Retreat at New York Botanical Garden

Enjoy a restorative retreat in nature and practice cura personalis with colleagues. Lunch sandwiches provided. Meet at McShane Campus Center Entrance, Rose Hill

9. Now Through Sunday, October 26:
Van Gogh’s Flowers at New York Botanical Garden

See botanical recreations of Vincent Van Gogh’s celebrated floral paintings at New York Botanical Garden this summer, which has installed sculptural sunflowers and large-scale artworks in homage to the artist. On select “Starry Nights,” a live drone show will light up the sky with scenes from his work. New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, NY 

10. Wednesday, June 11 – Saturday, August 9:
Summer for the City at Lincoln Center

From world music concerts at Damrosch Park to comedy showcases under Josie Robertson Plaza, there are hundreds of free and pay-what-you-can performances to choose from during this summer-long festival at the Lincoln Center performing arts complex. Lincoln Center, NY
