The Center on Law and Information Policy (CLIP) at Fordham Law School has been awarded a research contract to serve as the U.S. partner in a global consortium conducting a study of electronic communications for the European Commission.
Under the direction of Joel R. Reidenberg, J.D., professor of law and founding director of CLIP, the center will provide an analysis of U.S. law for the study, “Comparison of Privacy and Trust Policies in Electronic Communications.” The objectives of study are to understand the mechanisms and issues surrounding electronic communication and to gather information that will lead to better policy.
The European Commission is the executive body of the European Union. It is one of the three main institutions governing the European Union. The principal investigators on the project are WIK-Consult in Germany and RAND Europe in Cambridge, England. Other members of the research team include the Centre de Recherche en Informatique et Droit at the Universite de Namur in Belgium and GLOCOM in Japan.
