Daniel Gatti, S.J. (FCRH ’65, GSE ’66), Fordham’s alumni chaplain, has been named the interim director for Alumni Relations, effective immediately. His appointment follows the departure of Caitlin Tramel, the department’s director, who left the University on July 27 to pursue other career interests.
“In Father Gatti we have a seasoned administrator who understands the Jesuit mission of Fordham inside out,” said Roger A. Milici Jr., vice president for development and University relations. “I have every confidence that Alumni Relations will continue to thrive under his leadership, and that we will continue to serve our alumni with engaging and productive programming and events.”
Father Gatti was appointed alumni chaplain at Fordham in August 2010. He is a double alumnus—holding degrees from Fordham College at Rose Hill and the Graduate School of Education. He earned a master of divinity degree with high distinction from Woodstock College.
He taught at Fordham Preparatory School from 1966 to 1969, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1972. Father Gatti has worked in pastoral care at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C., and as director of pastoral care at Georgetown University Hospital. He was the assistant director of medical center development at Georgetown for four years before returning in 1994 to New York City, where he completed the Jesuit Secondary School Administrator Program at Fordham in 1996. From 1997 to 2009 he served as president of his alma mater, Xavier High School, located in Manhattan.
“For more than two years, Caitlin has continued to improve and refine programs and services available to our alumni,” Milici said. “Alumni Relations began a series of initiatives under her leadership which leave the University with stronger connections to its alumni and a more robust infrastructure. We are very grateful for her innovations and hard work.”
Milici told alumni leaders that he is committed to continuous improvement of the Alumni Relations program, and increasing engagement with alumni nationally and internationally, calling their role “vitally important to our continued success, and to the ongoing fulfillment of the University’s mission and goals.”
Father Gatti will continue to serve both as alumni chaplain and interim director. He can be reached at[email protected] or (212) 636-6978.
