Dear Members of the Fordham Family,
Given the times we live in, I believe this year’s observance of All Souls’ Day can and should be a moment during which we remember and pray for the repose of the souls of all in America who have lost their lives to COVID-19, Black lives lost to police violence—and all those who have been the victims of racial hatred, and those who have been the victims of mass shootings in the course of the past several years. I would call this an American All Souls’ Day.

Regardless of your religious beliefs or affiliation, I would ask that you set aside some time Monday to pray or meditate upon all of the people whose lives were ended or damaged, whose vulnerabilities were exploited, or whose loved ones were lost.
Please know that all of you are in my prayers as we navigate one of the most difficult years in our history.
