Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J., will deliver his 35th McGinley Lecture, “The Ignatian Charism at the Dawn of the Twenty-First Century,” on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. at the Leonard Theatre, Fordham Preparatory School, Rose Hill campus. Cardinal Dulles is the Laurence J. McGinley Professor of Religion and Society at Fordham, a position he has held since 1988. He is an internationally known author and lecturer and was one of three Americans named to the College of Cardinals in 2001 by Pope John Paul II. He has published 22 books and more than 750 articles, essays and reviews on theological topics.
Cardinal Dulles chose the topic of the McGinley Lecture to coincide with the close of the Ignatian Year of 2006. The lecture summarizes the main features of leadership of St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, and considers the mission of Jesuits today in light of founding documents and the directives of recent Popes.
