Fordham is joining a network of Jesuit colleges and universities in a new awareness campaign that seeks to articulate the power of Jesuit education.
Created by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, the campaign highlights the impact of Jesuit institutions at a moment when the value of higher education is under increased scrutiny. The initial outreach will coincide with National Catholic Schools Week (January 25 to 31) and will reach prospective students, parents, and guidance counselors through digital advertising and social media.
Communicating the Value of a Jesuit Education
Fordham is participating in the campaign by creating posts on LinkedIn, X, and Facebook, and sharing a video on YouTube. Alumni, students, faculty, and friends of the University are encouraged to amplify these posts, or share their own Jesuit education stories on social media using the hashtag #JesuitEducated.
At the center of the campaign is JesuitEducated.com, a website that answers the question “What is Jesuit education?” With more than 2 million alumni worldwide, Jesuit colleges and universities share a 500-year-old tradition rooted in the vision of St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits. That tradition emphasizes critical thinking, academic excellence, ethical reflection, and a commitment to forming leaders “for and with others.”
The site features profiles of all 28 Jesuit colleges and universities, an interactive map, and information about upcoming Jesuit college fairs. It also features a video and testimonials from alumni and current students reflecting on how their education has shaped their professional paths and personal values.
President Tania Tetlow said the campaign is an opportunity to amplify Fordham’s impact.
“With this campaign, we harness the collective power of more than two million Jesuit-educated alumni. The world has never needed the power of Jesuit education more, and we need to spread the word,” Tetlow said.
What Does It Mean to Be a Jesuit University?
Despite its long history and strong track record—of the top 50 universities ranked by U.S. News & World Report for undergraduate teaching, nine are Jesuit—many prospective students and families are unfamiliar with Jesuit education. The campaign seeks to change that by clearly articulating the values that unite Jesuit institutions and the distinctive education and opportunities they offer students.
In a recent Fordham Ram Rides video, John Cecero, SJ, the University’s vice president for mission integration and ministry, talked with student Cristina Stefanizzi about how students benefit from a Jesuit education. Watch below.
