Laura Auricchio, Ph.D., Dean of Fordham College at Lincoln Center, Tracyann Williams, Ph.D., assistant Dean for Student Support and Success, and Rafael Zapata, Chief Diversity Officer, Special Assistant to the President for Diversity, and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, ADMINISTRATION, were selected to participate in the pilot cohort of the Leadership Institute for a New Academy (LINA) — an ACLS initiative supported by the Mellon Foundation. LINA is a year-long pilot initiative designed to galvanize faculty to forge career paths in administration that will strengthen the humanities and drive forward-looking change.

Rabia Gondur, data science master’s student at GSAS, ARTS AND SCIENCES, recently got accepted to COSYNE 2023, a conference for Computational and Systems Neuroscience for her research titled “Augmented Gaussian process variational autoencoders for multi-modal experimental data”. The conference will run from Mar. 9 to 12.
Claire Koen, doctoral candidate of theology, and Aristotle Papanikolaou, Ph.D., Archbishop Demetrios Chair in Orthodox Theology and Culture and professor of theology, ARTS AND SCIENCES, participated in the recent meetings of the Orthodox Theological Society of America, on Jan. 9, in Volos, Greece.
Sophie Mitra, Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of economics, and co-director of the Disability Studies Program and founding director of the Research Consortium on Disability, became a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) on Jan. 30. NASI advances solutions to challenges facing the nation by increasing public understanding of how social insurance contributes to economic security.
Sónia Monteiro, doctoral candidate, ARTS AND SCIENCES, received the CTSA Dolores L. Christie Convention Scholarship from the Catholic Theological Society of America on Jan. 5. This convention fellowship will facilitate her participation in the CTSA annual convention, which will take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin between July 8-11.
Brenna Moore, Th.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of theology, was awarded the 2022 Shea Prize at The American Catholic Historical Association awards which ran from Jan. 6 to 9 in Philadelphia, for her book entitled Friendship and Resistance at the Edges of Modern Catholicism, published by The University of Chicago Press.
Magda Teter, Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of history and the Shvidler Chair in Judaic Studies, attended a zoom session in regards to the upcoming national strategy to counter antisemitism, at the invitation of the White House on Jan. 18.
