The Fordham men’s basketball team ended a 12-game losing streak to Saint Joseph’s University that dates back to 1999 by beating the Hawks in overtime, 55-56, on Jan. 17 at the Rose Hill Gym on the Rose Hill campus.
With the win, Fordham moves to a 10-7 overall record, and 3-2 in the Atlantic 10. The game was tight throughout the first 15 minutes with neither team holding more than a four-point lead before the Rams closed out the half with a 7-1 run. Saint Joseph rallied back in the second half and the score was tied at 50 at the end of regulation. The game was decided when Fordham guard Marcus Stout drove to the basket and made a lay-up with 4.2 seconds remaining in overtime. The next game for the Rams is against Saint Louis University at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, in the Rose Hill Gym.
