Dear Members of the Campus Community:
Here are this week’s five things you need to know about Fordham’s COVID-19 precautions and University operations this fall:
- In the period from October 13 through 26, eight people in the University community tested positive for COVID-19 (positive cases are almost exclusively among students living off campus).
- For those making travel plans that include air travel, please be advised that airlines may have testing policies that require students to test negative for COVID-19 prior to departure for Thanksgiving break—please check with your airline on their requirements. If this is the case, the University will ensure there is sufficient testing capacity to accommodate demand.
- Students whose departure is delayed due to positive test results may be required to isolate on campus for 10 days before returning home. University Health Services will communicate the pre-departure testing protocol in detail very shortly.
- We have less than a month left of on-campus instruction and activity: if we maintain correct mask and social distancing protocols for the next 26 days, we will greatly increase the likelihood that everyone will have a healthy and safe holiday break. Regarding Halloween activities in particular, we strongly encourage students to celebrate responsibly.
- As of October 27, there are 41 states on New York’s travel advisory list. Inclusion on the list is based upon a seven-day rolling average of positive tests in excess of 10%, or number of positive cases exceeding 10 per 100,000 residents.
