Dear Members of the Campus Community:
Here are this week’s five things you need to know about Fordham’s COVID-19 precautions and University operations this fall:
- Fordham strongly recommends that all members of the University community add the COVID Alert NY contact tracing app to their smartphones. The App keeps personal information confidential and does not track your movements. “COVID Alert NY is a voluntary, anonymous, exposure-notification smartphone app. You will get an alert if you were in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19.”
- COVID-19 cases are on the rise in New York City. Be aware that off-campus compliance with social distancing and face covering guidelines is critically important in keeping the campus community safe.
- In the period from September 21 through October 4, sixteen people in the University community tested positive for COVID-19.
- If an employee develops any signs of COVID-19 while at work, they may be able to be tested before going home. Your supervisor should immediately call University Health Services to arrange a test in an area separate from the University surveillance testing sites prior to going home.
- The University strongly recommends all members of the community receive influenza vaccines this year, whether you are on campus or not. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever to reduce the occurrence of respiratory illnesses as much as possible in or communities.
