From the Office of the Vice President for Administration:
Dear Members of the Campus Community:
Here are this week’s five things you need to know about Fordham’s fall reopening:
- As of today, Fordham has had 14 positive COVID-19 cases on campus in the last two weeks.
- The number of cases on the COVID-19 Dashboard is a sum, not an average, reported over the two weeks prior to the current date; the infection rate reflects the average percentage over the 14-day period—the language has been changed to reflect this more accurately.
- The New York state threshold for suspending in-person instruction is 100 cases in a prescribed two-week period, per campus: in the event one campus reached that threshold, on-campus instruction and other face-to-face activities would be suspended only on that campus (students in University housing on the affected campus would not be sent home).
- If one person in a classroom tests positive, New York City requires that everyone physically present in the class be quarantined for 14 days. The University has more than adequate space for students who have tested positive, or who were possibly exposed to the virus, to quarantine on campus.
- Positive COVID-19 tests results are reported to the New York City Department of Health (DoH), regardless of whether the tests were performed on campus or by an outside health care provider: the DoH, in turn, reports all positive tests to the University, and those are reflected on the Dashboard.
