You’d be hard pressed to find an international group more tight-knit—and more on fire—than the nationally ranked Fordham water polo squad.
The Rams made history on November 23 by capturing their fifth consecutive Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference title. The victory followed a record-setting 2024 campaign that saw them win all 28 of their regular-season matches and rise to the top of the national rankings, a first for any Fordham team. The squad’s remarkable 2024 title run prompted Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Gay to ask if the Rams just might be “the greatest story in college sports.”
That level of sustained success comes down to a talented roster of players from places with strong youth programs and professional leagues. The Rams boast a truly global mix of student-athletes who hail from California, Connecticut, and countries including Hungary, Italy, and South Africa.
“We’re just a unique place,” Bacharach said of attracting top talent from far and wide in a recent interview with USA Water Polo. “People love going to school in New York City, they love the opportunity it presents.”
