NEW YORK— With more than 20 million women living with HIV worldwide, the Fordham Institute for Women and Girls and the Graduate School of Social Service International Center will examine “Women and AIDS from an International Perspective” at the Second Annual Women’s Symposium on Tuesday, March 8, at 3:30 p.m. in the 12th-Floor Lounge on the Lincoln Center campus.

Cynthia Poindexter, Ph.D., an associate professor at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service, will discuss the structural and societal forces that promote the spread of the disease around the world. An interdisciplinary panel discussion featuring Fordham scholars will follow. The panel will include Elizabeth Cooper, J.D., a professor at the School of Law; Abigail Harris, Ph.D. a professor at the Graduate School of Education; Tonya Perry, Ph.D., a professor at the Graduate School of Social Service; and Irma Watkins-Owens, Ph.D., a professor of African American Studies.
