Pope Leo has a new Fordham jersey!

The gift was hand delivered by a Fordham delegation that included University trustees, Board Chair Armando Nuñez, President Tania Tetlow, Vatican officials, and leaders from the Society of Jesus. The group convened in Rome for the second Fordham Board of Trustees Vatican Summit, held last week.

“The highlight of our time in the Eternal City was our meeting with Pope Leo,” said Tetlow. “His Holiness’s vision of a deeply inclusive, compassionate church that meets people exactly where they are has been a profound source of inspiration for me. To stand before the first American Holy Father as the representative of a New York Jesuit institution was a moment of immense joy and gratitude.” Tetlow will meet with the pontiff again later this week as part of a group of presidents of American Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU).

Two years ago, a Fordham delegation presented Pope Francis with a Fordham jersey. Tetlow said she was proud to keep the tradition alive with this year’s delegation, who also gifted Pope Leo a Fordham hat. “We officially welcomed Pope Leo to the Ramily by presenting him with his very own maroon and white!” she said.
