Conversations with Humanitarians: Eileen McCarthy

Eileen McCarthy, a humanitarian professional with more than 13 years of experience in field offices and headquarters, is CARE International’s UN Representative in New York. She engages UN policymakers and member states on gender equality in humanitarian settings and Women, Peace, and Security (WPS), while supporting advocacy for partners, especially women-led organizations. Previously a CARE USA Humanitarian Advocacy Advisor covering Sudan, Ethiopia, and Gaza, McCarthy has worked with UNICEF, NRC, Save the Children, co-authoring two reports on conflict’s impact on children. She holds degrees from LSE and Fordham.

Students will learn about CARE’s work and McCarthy’s work advocating with the United Nations system in New York. You’ll also acquire some information and skills on how to navigate your career and network with fellow students and McCarthy.
