The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) will recognize the special achievements of more than 25 students at its sixth annual awards ceremony on Friday, May 4, in the Great Hall of Duane Library, on the Rose Hill campus.

The students will be honored for receiving competitive awards during the 2006-2007 academic year, including Fulbright Fellowships to France, China and other nations, and other prestigious scholarships in their respective fields of study. Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham University, will present the awards, and Mary Bly, Ph.D., associate professor of English and director of graduate studies in the Department of English, will be guest speaker.

The GSAS has also granted more than 50 new funding awards to assist students with expenses related to conference presentations, research, and dissertation expenses; these student recipients will also be recognized.

The first GSAS Awards Ceremony, held in May 2002, recognized 13 students.
