New York City Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Fordham University held its annual Military Ball and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Feb. 23 at Marina del Rey in Throgs Neck, N.Y.
The gala event was hosted by Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham, and Lt. Col. Randy E. Powell, professor of military science at the Fordham ROTC. The guest of honor was Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz, chief of the Army Reserve.
The evening also included the recognition of senior cadets who will be commissioned as Army second lieutenants upon their graduation. The Army ROTC program qualifies students for appointment as officers in the U.S. Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard. Fordham University has long been the host institution of the Army ROTC in New York City. Fordham’s ROTC battalion, which has been recognized by the Army as being among the top 15 percent of the 272 ROTC units nationwide, has produced a number of notable graduates, including four-star general and former vice chief of staff of the Army, Gen. Jack M. Keane (FCRH ’66).
