NEW YORK—Commemorating the 40th anniversary of Vatican II, Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J., will present the annual fall McGinley lecture titled “Pope Benedict XVI: Interpreter of Vatican II,“ on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. in the Leonard Theatre at Fordham Preparatory School on the Rose Hill campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Cardinal Dulles, the Laurence J. McGinley Professor of Religion and Society, will reflect on the achievements of the Second Vatican Council as seen through the eyes of newly elected Pope Benedict XVI, who participated in the council as a young theologian.

Fordham University’s McGinley Chair in Religion and Society was established in 1985 as a tribute to Laurence J. McGinley, S.J., who first attained distinction as a professor of theology and later served as president of Fordham University from 1948 to 1963. The McGinley lectures explore the relationship between religion and current social and political issues.
