Four Feted on Faculty Day
On Feb. 7, Fordham celebrated its annual Faculty Day whereby it recognizes excellence in teaching in the arts and sciences. Those receiving this year’s awards were (left to right) Héctor Lindo-Fuentes, Ph.D., professor of history, for social sciences; Maria Ruvoldt, Ph.D., associate professor in the art history and music department, for humanities; Rosemary Wakeman, Ph.D., professor of history, for graduate arts and sciences; and Jon M. Friedrich, Ph.D., associate professor of chemistry, for sciences. In addition to the awards, faculty enjoyed a dinner and a talk by Lenny Cassuto, Ph.D., professor of English, on “University Service: The History of an Idea.”
Snow Days
Six weeks, five snow days. On Jan. 3, Jan. 22, Feb. 3, Feb. 5, and Feb. 13, the University was forced to cancel classes due to unusually heavy metro-area snowfalls—some of the worst in two decades. The upside of snow, besides cancelled classes, is an impromptu snowball throw on Edward’s Parade. The downside? Make-up classes to come in the spring.
