Not even the leading edge of a nor’easter could keep more than 1,000 graduates, family, and friends—all decked out in Fordham maroon and white—from returning to Rose Hill on Saturday, September 26, for the annual Homecoming celebration.
Under the tent on Edwards Parade, attendees enjoyed food, music, face painting, caricatures, a tug-of-war, and performances from the dance team, cheerleaders, and band.
After lunch, the crowd headed to Moglia Stadium, where the Rams fell to Stony Brook, 31-16. Although fans were willing to brave the gray skies and rain to attend the game, the weather did force a few changes: The 5K Ram Run was canceled, and the annual Young Alumni Yacht Cruise was rescheduled for October 23.
Saturday capped a full week of Homecoming festivities that kicked off with Fordham Night at Yankee Stadium. On Friday evening, alumni and friends packed the Great Hall in the McShane Center for the Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony, where nine former Rams were inducted. John Mulcahy, Class of 1894 and a 1904 Olympic gold medalist who founded Fordham rowing in 1915, was also recognized. His grandson Jack Mulcahy, an actor and director, accepted the award on his behalf. That same night, students dressed up and danced under the Homecoming tent at the annual President’s Ball.
