Thomas Massaro, SJ, ARTS AND SCIENCES, Laurence J. McGinley Professor of Religion and Society, was invited to participate in America Media’s webinar, “A.I., Pope Leo, and Analyzing the Impact of ‘Magnifica Humanitas’” on Aug. 19. He discussed Pope Leo’s first encyclical, advancing Catholic social teaching, and navigating the age of AI.
Anne E. Fernald, PhD, ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of English and women, gender, and sexuality studies, profiled eight women who responded to social oppression and helped create the modernist movement in her new book, Her Own Voice: Eight Women Who Rewrote Life and Art, published by Beacon Press on Aug. 18. Margaret Wise Brown, author of Goodnight Moon, and Una Marson, the first Black producer for BBC radio, are among the diverse range of women featured in the book, which has received critical praise from Kirkus Reviews and Library Journal.
Kevin Muller, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, assistant director of the Interlock Group, was invited to serve as a Pathfinder Fellow at the second annual AiM Higher: East Coast AI Conference, held June 9 to 11 at the University of Delaware. The fellow designation is conferred to higher education professionals who share their firsthand experience implementing AI solutions with peer institutions. Muller presented “The Flying Car Needs a Road: Paving the Foundations for Agentic AI in Higher Education” and co-led a two-day workshop on AI policy and governance and enterprise AI adoption with Kelly Lynam, director of product development at Johns Hopkins University.
